Winx understandably remains a clear and justified $1.14 favourite in 2016 Chelmsford Stakes betting markets with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au.

Following a standout 2015 campaign that peaked with consecutive wins in the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) and Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m), Winx returned to racing this year for a typically-comfortable win in the Group 2 Apollo Stakes (1400m).

Posting her fourth win at the highest level in the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m), the Street Cry mare progressed to wins in each of the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) and Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) before returning to the paddock.

Sure to have taken benefit from her first-up win in the Group 2 Warwick Stakes (1400m) this time, Winx will leave from the outside barrier with leading hoop Hugh Bowman in the saddle this weekend.

Interestingly figuring as the only other runner currently available at 2016 Chelmsford Stakes odds of less-than $10, Prized Icon will carry only 50.5kgs as a three-year-old on Saturday and is undoubtedly Winx’s biggest threat in the field of eight.

Resuming this year for third in a Randwick minor over 1000m, Prized Icon progressed to second in the Listed Lonhro Plate (1100m) before running third in the Group 3 Black Opal Stakes (1200m) in Canberra.

Placing second in the Group 3 The Schweppervescence (1400m) on March 26th, the More Than Ready colt posted a maiden win in the Listed Fernhill Handicap (1600m) on April 9th before taking out the Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) only one week later.

Prized Icon returned to racing for fourth in the talent-rich Group 3 Up And Coming Stakes (1300m) a fortnight ago and is primed to lay a good account for himself in the Chelmsford Stakes 2016.

Hartnell finished second behind Winx in the Warwick Stakes first-up, and currently rests on the third line of Chelmsford Stakes betting at generous $11 odds.

A Group 1 winner having taken out the 2015 edition of The BMW (2400m), Hartnell finished fifth in the Cox Plate most notably last spring and returned in autumn for just one start; a credible fifth in the Chipping Norton Stakes.
