Hartnell ($3.30) has continued to receive the greatest share of wagers for success in 2015 Chelmsford Stakes betting markets with Ladbrokes.com.au and remains outright favourite ahead of First Seal ($4) and Pornichet ($4.80).

Will Hartnell justify favouritism and win the 2015 Chelmsford Stakes or will one of his talented rivals find the line in the clear.

Royal Descent ($5)

A strong and consistent performer for Chris Waller through her entire racing career, Royal Descent will be partnered by leading hoop Hugh Bowman in the Chelmsford Stakes and has been charged with carrying only 57kgs. A Group 1 winner having taken out the 2013 edition of the Australian Oaks (2400m), the Redoute’s Choice mare was unlucky to finish second in her first four starts last spring, including the Chelmsford Stakes, but got her current campaign off to the best possible start when delivering a classy field a crushing defeat in the Group 2 Warwick Stakes (1400m) a fortnight ago.

Kermadec ($4)

Kermadec is undoubtedly at his best over a mile, but will need some luck in running in the Chelmsford Stakes after drawing the awkward barrier 13. Returning in autumn for fourth in the Group 3 Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m), the Teofilo entire progressed to third in the talent-rich Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) and a luckless fourth in the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m). Having returned to the paddock after placing third in the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) and winning the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m), Kermadec is sure to relish the conditions of the Chelmsford Stakes.

Precedence ($81)

The solitary hope of a 13th Melbourne Cup victory for the late, great Bart Cummings, Precedence will kick off his campaign in the 2015 Chelmsford Stakes and is a known first-up performer. Having produced strong results through each of his preparations since first debuting in 2008, the Zabeel gelding capped 2014 with his best Melbourne Cup result when sixth, returning for a solitary start in April this year for fifth in the Group 2 Hollindale Stakes (1800m).
